Short answer

To find fleet operators and commercial vehicle buyers for EV solutions, segment fleets by duty cycle and depot, identify the operations, finance and fleet roles that decide, meet them and their channel partners at Work Truck Week (Mar 9–12, 2027) and ACT Expo (May 17–20, 2027), qualify on depot and power, and open with a pilot-sized request.

Selling EV solutions to fleets is unlike selling to consumers. A fleet buyer is comparing total cost, uptime and charging logistics across dozens or hundreds of vehicles, and the decision often involves operations, finance and facilities as well as the fleet manager. Finding those buyers means knowing which kind of fleet you are targeting and which roles actually decide.

This guide is for makers of electric vehicles, conversion kits, charging, telematics and fleet-energy services who need to find commercial fleet operators and the dealers and upfitters around them. For the wider show calendar, see our guide to global automotive trade shows.

Segment fleets by how they use vehicles

These are illustrative segments. Ask each account about its own duty cycles rather than assuming.

Know who decides

  • Fleet manager. Owns vehicle selection and uptime; the usual first contact.
  • Operations and facilities. Own depots, parking and power, which decide whether charging is feasible.
  • Finance and procurement. Own total-cost comparisons and purchasing rules.
  • Sustainability or ESG leads. Often sponsor the programme, especially in larger organisations.
  • Dealers, upfitters and chassis OEMs. Influence what vehicles reach the fleet and can be your channel.

Where fleet buyers and channel partners gather

EventDatesWhereWho attends
Work Truck Week 2027Mar 9–12, 2027Indianapolis, USAFleet managers, chassis OEMs, truck dealers, equipment manufacturers, distributors and upfitters. The Future Truck Summit (with NAFA) opens on March 9, the ride-and-drive runs March 10–11 and the exhibit hall is open March 10–12; 500+ exhibitors are expected
ACT Expo 2027May 17–20, 2027Las Vegas, USAFleet operators, OEMs and infrastructure providers around advanced clean transportation, with a ride-and-drive
IAA Mobility 2027Sep 7–12, 2027Munich, GermanyOEMs, suppliers and technology companies; the B2B Summit runs September 7–10

Work Truck Week dates come from NTEA, its organiser. ACT Expo dates come from an EV events calendar, so confirm them on the organiser’s site. IAA Transportation in Hannover took place on September 15–20, 2026. Qualify before you propose

Question to askWhy it matters
How many vehicles, and what is the daily duty cycle?Decides range requirements and whether EVs fit at all
Do you have depot parking with available power?Charging logistics often decide feasibility
Who owns the depot, the fleet or a landlord?Determines who can approve charging installation
What funding or incentives are you planning around?Shapes timing and structure
What telematics and fleet software do you use today?Integration affects total cost and adoption

Start with a pilot-sized conversation

  1. Offer a small, specific first step.A route analysis, a depot assessment or a small pilot is easier to approve than a fleet transition.
  2. Bring a channel partner.Pair each conversation with a dealer, upfitter, charging provider or financing partner who can cover what you cannot.
  3. Use the event as context.Refer to a session, a ride-and-drive or a shared show, and ask for a 20-minute call.
  4. Document the answers.Record duty cycle, depot status and decision roles so later follow-up is specific.

Illustrative scenario. A charging-as-a-service provider might attend Work Truck Week to meet fleet managers and upfitters together, offer depot assessments as the first step and ask upfitters to introduce it to the fleets they already serve. This is a hypothetical example, not a client case.

Finding partners follows the same logic as in medical equipment channel research: choose the segment, build a candidate list from event exhibitors, qualify and open with something specific. If list building is the bottleneck, see VisitorsList’s event data and contact lists and our guide to automotive company contact lists.

Compliance note. Use business contact data only, keep outreach relevant to the person’s role and follow the rules that apply in their region, such as GDPR, CCPA, CASL and CAN-SPAM. Make opting out easy. This is general guidance, not legal advice.

Frequently asked questions

Who buys commercial EVs in a fleet?

Usually a group: the fleet manager chooses vehicles, operations and facilities decide on depots and power, finance and procurement approve spending, and sustainability leads sponsor the programme in larger organisations.

Is Work Truck Week or ACT Expo better for EV sales?

They serve different audiences. Work Truck Week centres on vocational trucks, chassis and upfits, while ACT Expo centres on advanced clean transportation including charging and hydrogen. Pick by the fleets you target.

How long are fleet EV sales cycles?

Often longer than single-vehicle purchases, because charging, funding and operations all need to align. Ask each account to describe its own timeline.

Do I need to exhibit to meet fleet buyers?

No. Attending sessions and ride-and-drives, arranging meetings in advance and working with dealers and upfitters can all generate conversations without a stand.
